Application Procedures
We appreciate your interest in the Holland America Line Cadetship Program. Our Cadet program is designed to launch your successful career as a Deck or Engine Officer within Holland America Line or Seabourn Cruise Lines.
Requirements:
- Enrollment in a Maritime School: You must be currently enrolled in a recognized maritime school.
- Application Submission: Upload your resume and complete the application questionnaire.
- Assessments: Successfully pass the Psychometric and Marlins assessments.
- Interview: Participate in an interview based on your assessment results.
- Further Assessment: After a successful interview, complete Stage 2 of the Psychometric assessment through our VTS system.
Selection Process:
Selection announcements will be made once all candidates have completed the tests and interviews.
Expectations:
We anticipate our cadets will continue their journey with us or our sister companies or affiliates after graduation.
If selected for the cadetship program and upon successful completion of the internship and graduation, you will have the opportunity to continue within Holland America Line or Seabourn as a 3rd Engineer Officer, 3rd Electrical Officer, or 3rd Deck Officer. Please note that entry-level contract lengths within the Holland America Group are typically 4 months on and 2 months off.

With HBO, MBO, or British Foundation degree education, you're well-prepared for success. As part of our Cadetship program, you'll gain valuable experience and hold a Flag State-issued Seaman Book.
Safety is our top priority. You'll make effective decisions, ensuring the safety of all on board, and report your findings to your supervisor. Basic problem-solving skills are a must, as is efficient communication with your team.
Your prior knowledge of safety, seamanship, electronics, machining, fabrication, and general maintenance skills are highly valued. If you're eager to explore the maritime trade, especially the world of cruise ships, you're in the right place.
Technical

Our Technical Cadet program is your ticket to becoming a certified Officer of the Engineering Watch. You can apply for a position as a:
- Engineer Officer Cadet

With a foundation in HBO, MBO, or British Foundation degree education, you're already on the right track. Opportunities for International Cadets
Our cadetship program maintains rigorous standards, focusing on motivation, initiative, perseverance, and the necessary qualifications. Please note that due to our Dutch flag affiliation, priority is given to Dutch students.
